I wanted to represent George Floyd and others who suffered the ultimate consequence of oppression. The protesters stand in the middle as a symbol of support.

After George Floyd passed away, I spent a week and a half just processing it. It is emotionally draining to feel like we continuously have to say that our lives are important too. We shouldn’t have to do that. My goal was to express my anger in a way that was productive - a way that would support the protests. People here may not personally know George Floyd; I want to make them realize it could have easily been someone they knew.

White supremacy and institutional racism are deeply ingrained in our society. Why are black people are constantly tasked with fighting this oppression when it’s not even an issue we can resolve alone? It requires change from the entire world.
